About SERPent
SERPent is an AI rank tracking tool for SEOs, brands, publishers and agencies. It shows where brands are named in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and ChatGPT, how often, and what to do about it. Every rate shows its n.
It's built by LYNX SEO, an SEO agency that needed honest AI visibility numbers for its own clients and couldn't find a tool that showed its working.

How SERPent works
AI answers change every time you ask, so a single check tells you very little. SERPent treats AI visibility as a rate measured from a sample, and shows you the sample.
1. You add a site, its competitors and its prompts
Each site (or client) has its own brands, competitors and prompts. Prompts are tagged organic, competitor or branded, and by intent: commercial, transactional or informational.
2. Each platform gets the query it actually responds to
Google AI Overviews appear on Google searches, and long conversational prompts often trigger no AI Overview at all. So for AI Overviews, SERPent runs a short seed keyword, suggested from each prompt and editable. Google AI Mode and ChatGPT get the full prompt, the way people actually ask them.
3. Answers are sampled every day
Every prompt runs multiple times a day on each platform, in each market. Every answer is stored, along with its citations. For ChatGPT, SERPent also records the web searches ChatGPT ran to build its answer.
4. Every answer is read for brands, positions and citations
- Position is where a brand is named among the tracked brands in an answer: #1 means first. When it varies, SERPent shows a range like #2–3.
- Seen is the share of sampled answers that mention a brand, always shown with its n, for example 47/126.
- Share of voice is a brand's mentions divided by all tracked competitors' mentions, from organic and competitor prompts. Branded prompts are excluded by default because they flatter the numbers.
- Change compares each number with the previous period of the same length.
When Google shows no AI Overview for a keyword, that run still counts towards n as not mentioned. Nothing is dropped to make a rate look better.
5. History is never lost
Because every answer is stored, adding a competitor or a brand name later re-reads past answers, so its history goes back to the first day of tracking.
